Crafty Saturdays are the bestest!

I got up this morning and was going to spend the day cleaning the house (exciting I know!) but seen as my gorgeous husband cleaned the kitchen for me while I was out getting the car tax (again, exciting!) I decided that Jack and I would have a crafty day! So while he rifled through his little drawer pulling out pens and glitter I decided to have a go at creating something out of this...

I've been trying to make felt flowers that didnt fall apart for a few months now, and today I decided to spend a few hours reading some online tutorials and practice a bit and I am really pleased with the results. The plan is to make more now, I want to make a few for christmas and see how they go down in my Folksy shop but I think it would be lovely to make some summery wreaths aswell that can be kept up all year round.

Here are the fruits of my labour...

Rainy Days!

What to do when all you have seen when you look out of the window for a week is......

Answer: Come home from work, put on your PJ's at half five in the afternoon, cuddle up with this cutie...
and plan your next move!

I think I have officially given up on any hopes for our summer making a miraculous return and time soon and am actually quite looking forward to the nights drawing in, putting on my dad's old jumpers, comfort food and snuggling on the sofa, fighting over who gets to wear the pink fluffy socks with Jack. (That actually happened yesterday; he found my pink fluffy socks on the floor and managed to convince Daddy to let him leave the house in them because "Daddy, they are so lovely and soft"! I had to wait until he was distracted by Handy Manny's School for Tools last night before I could whip them off and reclaim them as my own... job for this week, find some slightly more manly "lovely and soft" socks for him!)
Anyway, back to the weather. I promise I'm not being defeatist, I think we have had a pretty good summer down here in Pompey with lots of lovely Sundays spent at the beach, by the splash pool and the Bandstand so I am ready top embrace the autumn and all the lovely things that go with it! With the weather getting wetter, rainier and colder every day, it means lots more time spent inside trying to occupy myself and the little man, so I have decided that I am going to make the most of it and make an effort to learn something new every week.
There are a million and one DIY bits that need doing around the house and neither Tom or I have much previous with stuff like this (although he did plumb in our whole bathroom a few years ago, very impressed!) but if we are going to be proper grown ups then we need to learn to do it I guess!

I have taken inspiration for my little project form Shimelle.com who runs an Online Scrapbooking Class every year for a month in September called "Learn Something New Every Day". I haven't really got time to learn something new everyday, so I’m going to try for once a week instead!

...I decided to start a blog!

Sooo, I have decided to start a blog, which may or may not be a good idea. I've spent the last few months reading other people's and learning loads from them so I thought I would give it a go! I'm not sure yet how many people I actually know will get to know about it but we will see!

This is kind of a way to keep me sane because I'm always lying awake at night thinking of all kinds of cute little things to make or create and never seem to get around to doing it. I work full time doing design and admin for a charity, which I love, and I spend the rest of my time running around after my Jack who is the funniest, cheekiest, kindest, most loving, gobby and gorgeous little three year old I have ever met (but I am slightly biased!). My lovely husband Tom is a chef which means lots of yummy food when he gets the time but unfortunately it also means lots of long hours for him and lots of quiet nights in for me waiting for him to come home (but he is well worth the wait!) So hopefully this will keep me occupied when I have a spare minute and hopefully my little creations will be worth putting up with my ramblings!
